A man who was originally charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in connection with a Nov. 1 shooting outside Club Posh pleaded guilty Monday to manslaughter.
Ricardo Soto, 21, will be sentenced on Nov. 5 in the fatal shooting of John McGaughy-Singleton, 29.
The shooting erupted as the club was closing and the crowd was filtering into the street.
When police arrived at the scene, they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. A third victim later sought treatment at a local hospital.
Police initially responded to reports of gunfire at Club Posh, 4040 E. Evans Ave., and found two victims near the club.
As the officers were investigating, they heard more shots nearby. Moments later, a 911 caller reported gunfire in the lot shared by a Conoco service station and a McDonald’s at the intersection of East Evans Avenue and Colorado Boulevard.
Arriving at the fast-food restaurant, they saw a vehicle fleeing and gave chase. The vehicle crashed at East 17th Avenue and Oneida Street and two people were arrested.
Investigators said that a disagreement between two groups apparently sparked the shooting.
