A 57-year-old Aurora resident has died as the result of injuries suffered about 10:10 a.m. Tuesday in a car crash at East Mississippi Avenue and South Uravan Street, according to an Aurora Police Department media release.
Investigators said the woman, driving a 1997 white Pontiac Grand Am and northbound at the intersection, was struck by a driver in a red 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser who was eastbound on East Mississippi Ave.
The PT Cruiser driver was identified as a 74-year-old man who lives in Aurora. They said he ran a red light at the intersection and hit the Grand Am and a second car.
The 57-year-old woman driving the Grand Am was taken to a local hospital and transferred to Denver Health Medical Center where she died last night, according to Aurora police.
Neither she nor the driver of the PT Cruiser was named.
The investigation is on-going and police ask anyone who witnessed the accident to call traffic detectives at 303-627-3164 or 303-627-3163.
