Air Dubai’s new record, “Wonder Age,” has been a long time coming, but the wait has been worth it. The 3-year-old Denver act, formed by MC Julian Thomas and MC/singer Jon Shockness, blends jazz-flecked hip-hop, R&B and rock into an addictive concoction that goes down with exceeding smoothness. Produced by Flobots’ Andy Guerrero, the record already has Colorado’s music community whispering “national caliber.” In advance of the album’s Tuesday release, the band plays the Gothic Theatre tonight with the Heyday, Bop Skizzum (Guerrero’s other act) and Places. $10.
Eels gets slapped with the “enigmatic” tag so often that it’s become meaningless, but Mark Oliver Everett — the prolific, mercurial songwriter behind the L.A. act — justifies the description with his varied output, which ranges from pop-rock to folk to electro-tinged glam put-ons. He stops by the Ogden Theatre on Tuesday with Jessica Hoop to promote his latest 14-song collection, last month’s relatively sanguine “Tomorrow Morning” — his third album in less than two years. $24-$30.
