DENVER—President Barack Obama has nominated District Judge R. Brooke Jackson for the federal bench in Colorado.
Jackson is the chief judge for the district that covers Jefferson and Gilpin counties. He was first appointed to the bench in 1998.
Jackson was one of six candidates recommended by Colorado Sens. Mark Udall and Michael Bennet to fill two vacancies on the U.S. District Court in Colorado. He received his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1972.
Obama has also nominated Denver attorney William Martinez to the federal bench, but his confirmation has been tied up in the Senate for months.
