AIR FORCE ACADEMY — If it’s Air Force vs. Navy, it must be a close, nervy game.

Sure enough, the Falcons have carved out a 14-6 lead in the third quarter.

Blocked kick

Air Force took full advantage of the game’s biggest play.

Kyle Delahooke blocked a punt by Navy’s Jamil Cooks and the Falcons took over at the Navy 15. Four players later, Tim Jefferson scored a 1-yard touchdown — his second TD of the afternoon — giving Air Force a 14-6 lead early in the fourth quarter.

AFA defense stiffens

Navy took over at the Air Force 36, recovering a Tim Jefferson fumble. However, the Falcons’ defense stiffened and held the Midshipmen to a 32-yard field goal by Joe Buckley with early in the third quarter.

Early Air Force lead

Air Force scored first, Tim Jefferson rushing 50 yards for a first-quarter touchdown, putting the Falcons ahead 7-0.

Navy struck back in the second, capping a 14-play, 78-yard drive with a 25-yard field goal by Joe Buckley.
