Another day, another one-run decision for the Rockies. They’ve played a league-leading 58 one-run games, winning 28 and losing 30. The breakdown: 19-11 at Coors Field, 9-19 on the road. They were 23-20 in one-run games in 2009.
On their feet.
Stand For Stan, the promotion proclaimed, and they did. The crowd of 39,633 stood before the bottom of the sixth inning to salute 89-year-old Hall of Famer Stan Musial as he was wheeled around the field on a golf cart. Rockies players and coaches stood in front of their dugout and shook hands with Musial as his cart drove past. Not that standing O’s are reserved for all-time greats in St. Louis. The night before, Cardinals fans stood in unison for outgoing organist Ernie Hays.
Zero chance.
The Rockies have been shut out in back-to- back games for the first time all season. They’re 0-for-14 with runners in scoring position in those two games.
