Parents of an injured High Plains Elementary School student are upset with Cherry Creek School District’s handling of a student who allegedly broke their son’s leg.
The district has taken unspecified disciplinary action and the injured child’s mother has complained to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.
Patty Biscardi, the mother of the injured boy, 11-year-old Matthew Gardner, said her son tried to stop a 10-year-old from bullying another student and was pushed down, repeatedly kicked and had his leg twisted or jumped on, causing a fracture. School district officials dispute that version.
CCSD spokesperson Tustin Amole said there was a “playground scuffle with three boys involved; one child received an injury and another child received some disciplinary action.” Amole said due to privacy issues, she could not be specific on the action that was taken.
