West Metro Fire crews continue to work on the Wadsworth Ridge fire, which is now estimated to have burned 10 acres, but favorable conditions overnight should help crews control the fire.
The fire is burning northeast of the Lockheed Martin plant in Jefferson County, and was first reported at about 4:30 p.m. today
Grass and Scrub oak on rocky terrain are fueling the fire.
Currently no structures are threatened and air support was cancelled, said Micki Trost, a spokeswoman with West Metro Fire.
“There’s a lot of smoke, but it’s not moving much,” Trost said.
Lockheed fire crews are working along with West Metro Fire, and South Metro Fire Rescue.
Trost said 15 total units are working on the fire at this time, which includes fire engines and brush trucks.
A fire crew will remain on watch over night, but temperatures and high humidity levels are favorable, according to the release.
There is no indication at this point as to the cause of the fire.
