The Colorado Mammoth announced Friday that it has re-signed goaltenders Chris Levis and Curtis Palidwor, defensemen Tom Ethington and Chris McKay, as well as transition player and 2010 assistant captain Nick Carlson. The team has also brought back defenseman Matt Leveque, who played with the Mammoth from 2006-2009.

“It is really good for us to get our veterans back and we are looking forward to seeing them at camp,” Mammoth coach Bob Hamley said. “With a young group this season, our veteran leadership is a key to turning things around.”

The Mammoth’s 2011 season opener is Jan. 8 against the defending NLL champion Washington Stealth.

New contract for Wyoming coach Legerski.

University of Wyoming athletic director Tom Burman announced that the contract of women’s basketball coach Joe Legerski has been extended. Legerski is set to begin his eighth year with the program. The contract runs through the 2014-15 season.

CU women golfers in first.

The University of Colorado women’s golf team sits in first place with a team score of 590 after two rounds in the Heather Farr Memorial Invitational at the Colorado National Golf Club in Erie.

Colorado State (595) is in second place, just five strokes behind the Buffs, while Fresno State is third (603). Fourth through seventh are separated by three shots as Nevada (611) is fourth, Northern Iowa (612) fifth and Wyoming and Portland State are tied for sixth with a 614. Northern Colorado finished the day (11th), with a score of 651.
