AIR FORCE ACADEMY — Even with a 22-point victory over Colorado State, Air Force coach Troy Calhoun already had his practice plans for Monday before he left Falcon Stadium.
His list of concerns was long.
“You have a first-and-goal at the 3-yard line and you don’t convert,” Calhoun said. “You block a punt and the offense is out in three plays. You have to score a touchdown on a fool-them play.”
But maybe the most glaring concern for Calhoun was CSU’s 263 yards in kickoff returns.
Defensive stalwarts.
AFA safety Jon Davis and cornerback Reggie Rembert ganged up on CSU’s offense. Davis had 12 tackles, and Rembert had seven tackles, a fumble recovery and an interception. Rembert has 18 career turnovers.
Freshman Jamil Cooks, who blocked a punt against Navy, got to the extra point after CSU’s second touchdown. Junior defensive back Anthony Wooding had the blocked punt early in the third period.
Footnotes.
Safety Brian Lindsay (collarbone) and defensive linemen Ryan Gardner (groin) and Ben Kopacka (knee) were listed on the postgame injury report, but no status was given. . . . The crowd of 41,547 gave Air Force its fourth straight attendance of 40,000-plus for the first time since 2002.
