BURLINGTON, Vt. — University of Denver goaltender Sam Brittain and his counterpart, Rob Madore of Vermont, both made 28 saves on 29 shots Saturday night as Denver and Vermont skated to a 1-1 tie in an nonconference game.

Madore was busier in overtime, making four saves for the Catamounts (0-1-1), who lost 5-3 to the Pioneers (1-0-1) on Friday.

Brittain faced and stopped just one shot in overtime.

Drew Shore scored his third goal of the weekend at 3:06 of the second period to stake Denver to a 1-0 lead. It stayed that way until 18:06 of the second period when Dan Lawson scored the equalizer for Vermont.

Vermont outshot Denver 13-5 in the third period.

Both teams struggled on the power play, going 0-for-3 each.
