DENVER—A Denver deputy sheriff has been charged with 14 felonies involving allegations of sexual abuse of two young boys.
Forty-eight-year-old Mark Davis was being held Saturday in the Jefferson County jail on $800,000 bail. Denver District Attorney spokeswoman Lynn Kimbrough told the Denver Post that charging documents allege that Davis sexually assaulted an 8-year-old boy between June 1 and Sept. 27.
Davis also faces charges involving the sexual abuse of a 12-year-old boy between August 2002 and June 2006. Charges filed Friday against Davis include sexual assault on a child and sexual assault by a person in a position of trust.
Davis is scheduled in court Tuesday. There was no phone listing for Davis and it was unclear Saturday whether he had retained an attorney.
