A man and a woman in their 70s were killed Monday afternoon when their car made an erratic turn near the Englewood Town Center, clipped a tree and flipped into a parking lot, police said. Their names have not been released.
Englewood Police Department investigator Brad Johnson said the driver apparently cut across two lanes of West Hampden Avenue about 2 p.m. to make a turn into a shopping area at South Fox Street.
After the car hit the tree, it rolled over into a parking lot, which is several feet lower, hit two other vehicles and landed on its roof, he said.
The couple were dead inside the car, and the coroner’s office took over the investigation, Johnson said.
