Sugar skull workshop

Today. Scare up some smiles during this $3 all-ages class and story time, 2-4 p.m. at the Chicano Humanities and Arts Council Gallery. Sugar skulls, or calaveras de azúcar, honor the dead while poking fun at the living, who celebrate Day of the Dead. The gallery is at 772 Santa Fe Drive in Denver. Mighty models, mateyToday-Oct. 23. Just one highlight of the Rocky Mountain Shipwrights’ annual Ship Model Exhibit is a miniature version of the 5,000-year-old Egyptian barge on display at the Denver Art Museum as part of the King Tut exhibit. It was built by a member of the Rocky Mountain Shipwrights who is also an Egyptologist. See his handiwork along with models of ships from all eras during this event at at Rockler’s Woodworking & Hardware, 2553 S. Colorado Blvd. The exhibit runs 11 a.m.-5 p.m. today and Oct. 23; 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday and Oct. 24; and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. this week.
