The Denver Post’s was, by all accounts, a wild success, thanks to record turn-out and, most importantly, killer performances by some of Colorado’s most exciting artists.

The 10th UMS was distinguished by more hip-hop acts than ever before. Leonard Jackson (a.k.a. Lenny Lenn of ) captured some of the exciting performances that took place at Moe’s BBQ’s new joint at 3rd and Broadway, and has generously allowed us to share them with you. The videos include folks representing L.I.F.E. Crew, Jewell Tyme Music, Ugly Azz Entertainment and other elements of the simmering Denver hip-hop community.

The first video includes interview footage with , , , Booder Man, (who gives a shout-out to Denver rock bands and ), , Karma and Savier (a.k.a. S.O.), as well as journalist/cheerleader Ru Johnson.

Performers include Mane Rok, Karma and Haven, and a threesome of , and 800 the Jewell. Keep an eye out for other local hip-hop luminaries, including James Ray of Aires Jackson, and Jonny 5 of .

The second video, a little shorter, features performances by Whygee, F.O.E. and Haven, with backing by the live hip-hop band, , and a post-script by Whygee and F.O.E., appropriately packed with drug references by the two artists who just released a medical marijuana-inspired mixtape called “Take a Bite Out of Dispensary Music,” which you can download .

If these videos don’t convince you that there’s a large hip-hop scene just bubbling beneath the surface in Denver, you’ll just have to stay tuned. We expect more great things to come from the artists featured in these videos in the very near future. Many thanks to Lenny Lenn for letting us share them with you!
