Aurora police are unraveling a series of events that started Friday night as a burglary investigation and ended with a man in custody and a dead body in his hotel room.
Police were called about 9:45 p.m. after a break-in at a home in the 14200 block of East Baltic Circle, said Detective Shannon Lucy.
About an hour later, police spotted a man matching the description of one of the two burglars — a black man and a Latino man — in the parking lot of the Crestwood Suites Hotel at 14090 E. Evans Ave., about a quarter-mile away.
“In the course of the follow-up investigation, officers found a deceased adult white male in a room at the Crestwood that was associated with the suspect in custody,” Lucy said in a news release. “The victim had suffered trauma to his upper body and was declared dead at the scene.”
