FORT HOOD, Texas — Army Maj. Nidal Hasan fired 214 rounds and still had enough firepower to kill or wound dozens more soldiers when he was dropped by police gunfire at a soldier readiness center, investigators testified Wednesday.

Six loaded magazines found in Hasan’s uniform pockets and in his 5.7 mm semi-automatic pistol held 177 unfired rounds when police shot him, an Army investigator told a probable cause hearing.

Fifty-two witnesses have now testified in the Article 32 hearing, a military proceeding akin to a civilian grand jury hearing. Prosecutors will finish presenting evidence today.
