DENVER—Federal aviation investigators say a biplane that crash-landed near Longmont in June lost power because a fuel valve was turned off.

The pilot suffered only minor injuries. Boulder County sheriff’s deputies identified him as Carl Buck of Niwot. He was the only person on board.

A National Transportation Safety Board report released Thursday says the pilot failed to open the valve before takeoff.

The plane lost power shortly after takeoff on June 19 and landed in a plowed field. It suffered substantial damage.
