For the record: Ranked atop the BCS standings entering the weekend, Oklahoma (6-1, 2-1 Big 12) became the third consecutive No. 1 team to go down. The Sooners joined Alabama and Ohio State, who were No. 1 in the polls.
Who’s hot: Junior Ryan Broyles is another in a long line of Sooners receivers with an NFL future. He leads the Big 12 in receptions per game (9.9) and is second in receiving yardage. Broyles had eight grabs for 110 yards in Saturday’s 36-27 loss to Missouri.
Who’s not: Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops was an all-Big Ten safety at Iowa, and his Sooners defenses usually rank among the nation’s best. Now, OU rates just seventh among Big 12 teams in total defense and is yielding 5.5 yards per play.
Key stat: Against Missouri, Sooners tailback DeMarco Murray was held to a season-low 49 yards on 12 carries. He had rushed for more than 100 yards the previous two weeks.
FYI: Sooners sophomore quarterback Landry Jones, a Parade All-American at Artesia, N.M., took a recruiting visit to Colorado and strongly considered the Buffaloes before signing with Oklahoma.
