DENVER—Colorado’s Republican Senate candidate is facing questions about the separation of church and state after opponents spread a clip of him questioning the concept.
Liberal opponents of Republican Ken Buck have been circulating video of him in a 2009 GOP forum. Buck won applause from a conservative crowd at Colorado Christian University last fall when he said that while the Constitution bans a government-sanctioned religion, it doesn’t require church and state to be separate.
Democrats spread the Buck video after a Delaware Republican, Christine O’Donnell, was panned for questioning in a debate last week whether the separation of church and state is in the constitution.
