Two people died in a two-car crash at West 44th Avenue and Lowell Boulevard Tuesday night because of alleged drunk driver, Denver police said.

The crash happened just before midnight when Carl Cumby, 35, allegedly drove a Dodge Dakota pickup through a red light and collided with a Ford Mustang, police spokesman Sonny Jackson said.

The crash killed the driver of the Mustang and a woman who was a passenger in the truck. Their names have not been released.

Cumby remains in Denver Health Medical Center but once released will be booked into jail on charges of vehicular homicide, reckless driving and driving under the influence, Jackson said.
