PHOENIX — An Arizona police report says Gov. Jan Brewer was involved in a 1988 car crash when she was a state senator, and officers at the scene believed she was intoxicated.
The report obtained by The Arizona Republic says Brewer rear-ended a van on the interstate. No one was hurt. Brewer failed a series of field sobriety tests. She was placed in handcuffs and taken to a police station but later released.
Brewer released a statement Wednesday saying she was not impaired and did not ask for legislative immunity.
