DENVER—A federal judge in Denver has decided there’s enough evidence to pursue the case against a 72-year-old real estate developer accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill a business associate.
Brooks Kellogg of Chicago was in court Monday for a preliminary hearing. U.S. District Judge Kristen Mix also found that Kellogg is a danger to the community and ordered him held without bond.
Kellogg, a part-time Steamboat Springs resident, was arrested in Denver in October after prosecutors said he paid $2,000 to an undercover agent he thought was a hit man. Authorities say Kellogg wanted him to kill Stephen Bunyard of Destin, Fla., who won a judgment against Kellogg.
Kellogg’s arraignment is Nov. 5.
