Friday’s Dome fire, which caused the evacuation of west Boulder neighborhoods, most likely started in an area near two campfire pits and a heavily used hiking trail on Boulder Open Space and Mountain Park property, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
As of Monday afternoon, the fire was 90 percent contained.
Cmdr. Rick Brough of the Boulder Sheriff’s Department said the investigation is continuing but fire officials are confident the fire was the result of human activity.
