A 20-year-old suspected of robbing a grocery store in Missouri Thursday was taken from a Greyhound bus in Summit County early Friday.
His cell phone signal put authorities on his path, the Summit County Sheriff’s Department said today.
Gilbert Millette-Francois is being held in the Summit County jail in Breckinridge, awaiting extradition to Independence, Mo., to face charges he held up a Hy-Vee store at gunpoint.
According to media reports in Missouri, the robber tried to shoot at the store manager but the gun jammed, and he tried several more times to get the gun to fire before he left the store, where 21 people were shopping, but no one was injured.
“Pings” from his cell phone led Summit County Sheriff’s deputies and Frisco police to pull over the bus, traveling west on Interstate 70 near Frisco, and ask its eight passengers to step outside.
“A phone call to the suspect’s cell phone also rang through to the phone in Millette-Francois’ pocket, aiding in his identification,” the Sheriff’s Department stated.
