If you’re not one of the 1 million Coloradans who already have cast their votes, today is the day to let your voice be heard. Polling places across the state will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
And while we always think it’s a good idea to get informed and vote, it’s especially important this year with a few tight races predicted.
Don’t think your one vote counts?
Not only is it important in lower- ticket races, where fewer votes are cast, but also in major national races. Consider:
Sen. Al Franken won his Minnesota Senate seat with a razor-thin margin of 312 votes cast out of 2.9 million. The quest to become leader of the free world in 2000 came down to less than 600 votes in Florida — out of 5.9 million votes cast. And in Colorado, Bob Beauprez won his congressional seat in 2002 by just 121 votes, one of the closest races in state history.
