DENVER—Gov.-elect John Hickenlooper has appointed a transition team to recruit candidates to head major state agencies and is promising to work with Republicans to build his team.

Hickenlooper named Lt. Gov.-elect Joe Garcia and Internet entrepreneur John Huggins to the team Wednesday and asked them to recruit candidates from across the country.

Hickenlooper beat Republican Dan Maes and third-party candidate Tom Tancredo on Tuesday.

He says he will announce several staff appointments later in the day, including a chief of staff he will choose himself.

Hickenlooper says he wants to hear from the public and other parties before outlining specifics of his agenda.
