Arthur Louis Martinez, 44, pleaded guilty today in Jefferson County to sexually assaulting a 29-year-old woman who was accosted while she was on a walk near her home on Green Mountain in July 2009.
Martinez, who has a long criminal record, faces up to 45 years in prison when he is sentenced on Dec. 8. At the time of the assault, he had skipped out on parole and was in custody on the violation a few months later when DNA connected him to the Green Mountain assault, authorities said.
Lakewood police said Martinez jumped from behind a bush and attacked the woman, dragged her into the bushes and repeatedly punched her in the face as he raped her.
