A 13-year-old Lakewood girl who took her mother’s car without permission smashed the sedan into her townhome, plowing through a front wall.

The crash happened about 5:20 p.m. Tuesday at 10225 W. 25th Ave., according to the Lakewood Police Department.

No one was injured, said Steve Davis, a Police Department spokesman.

Davis said the girl’s mother was asleep in the townhome when the 1990 Acura, which has temporary tags, crashed into the residence.

“She hit the gas instead of the brake, and it hit the townhome,” Davis said.

The West Metro Fire Protection District was called to the scene, and firefighters shored up the front wall to prevent a second-story collapse.

The driver, who is too young to have a driver’s license, was issued a summons for careless driving. Kieran Nicholson, The Denver Post
