No. 16 Eaton (7-3) at No. 1 Florence (10-0)

Husky Stadium, Saturday, 1 p.m.

Florence’s powerful, three-pronged running attack of John Alexander, Tyler Faoro and Cody Nichols runs behind a physical offensive line capable of wearing down most defenses. Eaton will attempt to rebound from a 29-24 loss last week to Platte Valley.

No. 9 Platte Canyon (9-1) at No. 8 Buena Vista (8-2)

Saturday, 1 p.m.

Platte Canyon’s Mikey Gunkel has rushed for nearly 600 yards and five touchdowns during the past three games. Buena Vista running back Dakota Johnson is averaging nearly 8 yards per carry, but he was held to 34 yards on 14 carries during last week’s loss to Salida.

No. 13 Bennett (8-2) at No. 4 Olathe (8-2)

Saturday, 1 p.m.

Olathe’s defense has recorded three shutouts and allowed only 48 points during the Pirates’ seven consecutive wins. Bennett went 1-2 this year against playoff teams, defeating Bishop Machebeuf on Sept. 25 before road losses at Platte Canyon and Kent Denver.

No. 12 Basalt (7-3) at No. 5 Faith Christian (8-2)

Saturday, 1 p.m.

Faith Christian quarterback Alex Buchmann leads Class 2A with 1,483 yards passing. He has thrown 15 touchdown passes and six interceptions in 159 attempts. Eagles running back Oran Tool has rushed for more than 1,100 yards, with 13 TDs. Four of Basalt’s wins were shutouts.

No. 14 Bishop Machebeuf (7-3) at No. 3 Brush (8-2)

Beetdigger Stadium, Saturday, 1 p.m.

Bishop Machebeuf (3-7 last year) put together the school’s best season in more than 20 years and features a tough backfield fueled by David Brown and Shawn Robnett. Brush is averaging 41.4 points per game.

No. 11 Bayfield (8-1) at No. 6 C.S. Christian (9-1)

Grace Stadium, Saturday, 1 p.m.

C.S. Christian quarterback Taylor Young has produced as a double threat, compiling 861 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns in addition to nearly 600 yards passing (seven touchdowns). Bayfield has scored at least 40 points in seven games.

No. 10 Platte Valley (7-2) at No. 7 Aspen (8-2)

Saturday, 1 p.m.

Aspen had consecutive losses to Coal Ridge and Olathe in the wake of a season-ending knee injury to all-state running back Nick Ufkes, but rallied to finish with a 48-0 win against Roaring Fork. Platte Valley senior QB Adam Hange has about 2,100 combined passing and rushing yards.

No. 15 Coal Ridge (7-3) at No. 2 Kent Denver (8-2)

Saturday, 1 p.m.

Kent Denver has won seven consecutive games since a loss against Florence and has not allowed a point in the past six. Sun Devils QB Richard Yates is averaging 17.7 yards per completion. Coal Ridge struggled down the stretch, going 3-3 and failing to score a point in the three losses.
