Light snow is moving out of the metro region this evening, but the high country will remain under a winter weather advisory until midnight as snow and blowing drifts continue to cause hazards.
Temperatures in the city will dip into the teens tonight, and snowfall is expected to diminish across the mountains by morning, the National Weather Service said.
While Denver saw less than 3 inches in most locations, the Western Slope saw from 4 to 9 inches, with up to a foot at higher elevations, by mid-afternoon today, forecasters said.
Another storm is expected to bring more snow to ski resorts this weekend. The metro region also has chances for a little more snow – 30 percent on Saturday and 20 percent on Sunday – with a low of 18 Saturday night and 20 Sunday night, after daytime highs of about 40 degree each day.
The chill could linger until late next week, before highs return to the upper 50s next Thursday, according to the longer-range forecast.
