This is about three artists/records that impacted/influenced you over the years –- you as a musician, Gray Smith of Brooklyn-via-Boulder electro band . So letap talk about your road.
“Colorado’s the best. Such a great crowd, and everyone’s so enthusiastic about new music. Everyone there is really into electronic music, and people come out to have a good time. Colorado’s still our best market in the country.”
15 years old
“Led Zeppelin’s ‘BBC Sessions’ was my teenage years in a nutshell. I jammed out to that album pretty hard. I was really interested in the guitar at the time, and I’d just started playing. I loved that record. I listened to it every day in school. Itap my favorite record of theirs.

“All of Daft Punk’s albums had a huge influence on me, but I listened to ‘Discovery’ over and over and over again. I’d listened to a lot of electronic music before that, more trance stuff like Paul Van Dyk and Armin van Buuren. But when I first heard Daft Punk, which had that rock-disco feel to it, I’d never heard anything like it before. The sampling on that album is so genius. It also has a harder edge, but itap still listenable. And itap something a wider range of people who aren’t necessarily into club music could relate to. When we first started doing the electronic thing, it was a No. 1 influence.”
Now
Swedish House Mafia and the whole electro and progressive movement is pretty great. I saw them at a couple festivals this summer and had a blast. They’re great DJs and producers.
