AURORA — Any doubts that Grandview was a dangerous team in this year’s Class 5A playoffs were wiped out Friday night at Legacy Stadium. The 21st-seeded Wolves (7-4), behind a pair of Jordan Schlehuber touchdown passes, scored their second consecutive upset, knocking off fifth-seeded Columbine 14-7.
Schlehuber completed 14-of-17 passes for 146 yards, including a 36-yard strike to Tanner Gentry in the back of the end zone with 5:19 left remaining for the game-winner.
“We’re on the rise. Our confidence is building up. We’re doing great. We just got to keep going,” Gentry said.
Columbine (9-2) was driving for a potential game-tying score when Grandview’s Ernesto Eternod intercepted a Justin Brown pass at the Wolves’ 18-yard line with 1:05 remaining.
