By all indications, Martina Navratilova is rid of the breast cancer she was diagnosed with in April. So, at the age of 54, she has plunged back into the frantic pace of a life that revolves around causes she’s passionate about. Next week, it’ll be an event hosted by Billie Jean King and Elton John to benefit the fight against AIDS. In early December she’ll try to climb Mount Kilamanjaro to benefit community sports projects for children around the world. “I’m still here,” she said. “I had a birthday last month. And when people ask me, ‘How are you doing?’ I say, ‘I have 10 toes, 10 fingers and two boobs!’ ”
