Aurora Public Schools Superintendent John Barry has been named 2011 Colorado Superintendent of the Year by the Colorado Association of School Executives.
The group praised Barry for his leadership skills and his “unwavering focus” in helping all students succeed and learn.
He was also lauded for creating VISTA 2010. The five-year plan targeted improving student achievement, closing socio-economic gaps and regaining public confidence in the district.
Barry is eligible to be named National Superintendent of the Year.
