Getting your player ready...

SAN DIEGO — Antonio Gates is getting frustrated with the torn plantar fascia in his right foot that could sideline him for a second straight game.

And for the fantasy geeks who are wondering, the Chargers’ tight end doesn’t know if he will be able to play Monday night against the Broncos.

“That’s probably the most- asked question, anyway, ‘Can I play,’ so they can see if they can drop me,” Gates said Wednesday. “I just try to keep them informed. I try to tweet some things here and there. I try to keep them updated.”

In short, not much has changed for Gates, who sat out practice again. He did some running and exercises in the pool.

“It’s a rehabbing, healing process, man,” Gates said. “It’s brutal. I did some running (Wednesday), but obviously I’m not running the way I would have to run on Monday. I just have to wait and see.”

Gates missed the Chargers’ victory at Houston on Nov. 7, and the Chargers had their bye last weekend.

“This is kind of coming off a two-week rest period. For some reason, I’m just in a situation where I really don’t even know how this thing is going to play out, really,” Gates said. “It’s frustrating for me.”

San Diego’s other tight ends are Randy McMichael and Kris Wilson.

Wide receivers Legedu Naanee and Malcom Floyd both practiced and said they expect to play. Naanee has missed four games and Floyd three, both with hamstring injuries.

Kicker Nate Kaeding said it looks good that he will be able to return after missing three games with a groin injury.

Spiller apologizes for tweet

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Bills running back C.J. Spiller apologized for using a derogatory term toward gays that he posted on his Twitter account.

The apology was posted shortly after the rookie used the term while exchanging tweets with friend and former Clemson teammate, Eagles defensive end Ricky Sapp.

In apologizing, Spiller wrote he was “truly sorry,” and that it was out of character, before closing with “God Bless.”

Footnotes.

Vikings quarterback Brett Favre said his throwing shoulder feels “OK” and that he’s not “overly concerned” about it, while receiver Sidney Rice, who hasn’t played this season after undergoing hip surgery in August, said he plans to play Sunday against the Packers.

• Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward cleared his post-concussion tests and practiced in full pads.

• Despite two cracks in his left wrist, Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck was a full participant in practice as well as rookie left tackle Russell Okung (ankle).

• Jets receiver Jerricho Cotchery (groin) did not practice and is questionable for Sunday’s game against Houston.

• Quarterback Chad Henne is listed as doubtful for tonight’s game against Chicago, while two other Dolphins starters — center Joe Berger (knee) and safety Chris Clemons (hamstring) — are out because of injuries.
