DENVER—A Salt Lake City man connected to animal rights activism has pleaded guilty to setting fire to a Denver-area store that sells sheepskin seat covers and clothing.
The U.S. attorney’s office for Colorado says 34-year-old Walter Bond pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of use of fire or explosives to destroy property and one count of force, violence and threats against an animal enterprise.
Bond faces from five to 20 years in prison when he’s sentenced Feb. 11.
Authorities say Bond posted a message online taking responsibility for the fire that destroyed the Sheepskin Factory in Glendale in April. The message by “ALF Lone Wolf” warned that “making a living from the use and abuse of animals will not be tolerated.”
