SABMiller, the world’s largest brewer, on Thursday reported a 15 percent increase in first-half profits on the back of strong performances in the Americas, Asia and South Africa.
SABMiller, whose brands include Grolsch, Pilsner Urquell and Peroni beers, said net profit rose to $1.12 billion in the six months ending Sept. 30 from $973 million a year earlier.
The higher earnings in North America came despite a 3 percent drop in sales by Miller Coors, SABMiller’s U.S. joint venture with Molson Coors Brewing Co.
