Getting your player ready...

In something of a surprise, the Avalanche announced this morning that goalie Craig Anderson will start tonight’s game against the New York Rangers.

Anderson said he feels ready to go after missing more than three weeks with a right knee injury.

“My job is to stop the puck, and that’s what I’m going to try to do tonight,” Anderson said. “Everything feels good, so it’s exciting to be back out there.”

Peter Budaj will again be the backup. He has posted a 7-3-1 record so far, with a .909 saves percentage.

Avs coach Joe Sacco said there will be no changes to the lineup from the previous two games. Jonas Holos and David Koci will be the healthy scratches, and Kyle Quincey remains out with a concussion, though he skated Friday.
