The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is left without leads after unknown persons vandalized the Mother Cabrini Shrine in Golden sometime Sunday night or early Monday morning.

Joann Seaman, spokeswoman for the Cabrini Shrine, said that four statues were damaged, some irreparably.

Jefferson County sheriff’s spokesman Mark Tech meyer said that a shrine employee reported that everything was fine Sunday evening. The damage was discovered when the shrine opened the next morning.

Techmeyer said police had no suspects or leads and that any possible repairs to the statues would cost “thousands of dollars.”

Seaman said that the Cabrini Shrine is weighing the possibility of installing a security surveillance system.
