Former Colorado walk-on Colt Brennan and two women were seriously injured in a two-car crash on the Big Island in Hawaii.
Brennan’s agent, Ryan Tollner, issued a statement that said Brennan was transported to Honolulu for further medical treatment after being taken to Kona Community Hospital on Friday. Tollner said Brennan’s condition was serious.
Big Island police say Brennan was a passenger in an SUV that collided head-on with a sedan driven by a Waikoloa woman.
Police opened two negligent injury investigations. The cause of the crash was under investigation and it was not known if speed, alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, police said.
After being dismissed from the Colorado football team Brennan finished his collegiate career at the University of Hawaii where he was third in the voting for the Heisman Trophy in 2007. He was a sixth-round draft pick by the Washington Redskins in 2008 and was released by the team before the start of training camp this year.
