TERRE HAUTE, IND. — Under a slate-colored sky and on a warm but unusually blustery day this afternoon, four University of Colorado runners earned All-American honors at the NCAA cross country championships.
The CU women’s team finished sixth behind All-American performances from sophomore Laura Temblay and redshirt freshman Shalaya Kipp.
The CU men’s team, ranked No. 7 nationally before the race, finished 15th. It was the team’s worst finish since 1989, when the Buffaloes finished 18th.
Wetmore said beyond redshirt sophomore Joe Bosshard and junior Andy Wacker, who finished 26th and 37th, the team did not run well. The race was Bosshard’s second All-American honor this year, after he finished sixth in the 10K of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in June.
The only other Colorado runners were Air Force senior Justin Tyner, who finished 89th overall in 31:02.7 and sophomore Jeremy Drenckhahn, who ended up 134th in 31:28. Both qualified individually for the championships.
