The Mesa County Coroner’s Office identified the driver who collided with a semi-truck on an Interstate 70 frontage road in DeBeque Tuesday as 19-year-old Rachel E. Counts of DeBeque.

The coroner’s office said alcohol was a factor in the crash. Counts was not wearing a seatbelt and died from multiple blunt force injuries.

A toddler and other passengers in the Dodge Durango survived the crash at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Colorado State Patrol estimated the Counts was going about 70 mph when she hit the semi-trailer.
