No. 1 Elizabeth (12-0) at No. 5 Vista Ridge (10-2)

Elizabeth has looked every bit the part of the state’s No. 1 team, having outscored the opposition 75-7 in the first two rounds of this year’s playoffs, including a 40-0 win over Frederick last week. . . . The Cardinals, in the state semifinals for the first time in team history, held Frederick to five first downs and 74 yards in the quarterfinals. . . . Brad Goldsberry and Dalton Taylor each scored twice for Elizabeth. . . . Vista Ridge is in its first varsity season. The Wolves shut out Silver Creek 26-0 in the quarterfinals in Longmont. Vista Ridge limited the Raptors to 2 yards rushing and picked off Silver Creek QB Austin Apodaca twice. Wolves QB Thomas Newman ran for a TD and threw for one.

No. 6 Cañon City (9-3) at No. 2 Glenwood Springs (11-1)

Stubler Memorial Field, Saturday, 1 p.m.

It’s not quite 2008 all over again, but Glenwood Springs, after a bumpy regular season, is starting to flex its muscle in the playoffs. The Demons scored 42 points in each of their first two post- season victories, including a 42-21 win over Lewis-Palmer last week after racing to a 28-0 second-quarter lead. . . . Drew Halsch rushed for 110 yards and three scores; Chad Montover added two touchdowns, including a 55-yard interception return; and quarterback Luke Jacob ran for a game-high 162 yards. Glenwood Springs finished with 309 yards on the ground against Lewis- Palmer. . . . Cañon City, behind two TD passes from Max Javernick, beat Windsor 17-10 in the second round. Javernick led a game-winning TD drive late in the game, capped with a 17-yard strike to Rolan Apple-Lemieux with 3:44 remaining. . . . Cañon City is in the semifinals for the first time since winning the 3A state championship in 2000.
