GREELEY, Colo.—The funeral for a 43-year-old Weld County deputy who was shot to death during a struggle with a car thief is set for Monday morning in Greeley.

Authorities say Sam Brownlee died Tuesday after he was shot three times with his own gun by 20-year-old Rueben Reyes, who was later shot and killed by other officers.

The shooting happened in Evans after a high-speed chase that began in Morgan County.

Services will be at 10 a.m. at the University of Northern Colorado’s Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion followed by a procession to Linn Grove cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established at Chase Bank.
