COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Firefighters say two dogs were killed in a house fire in Colorado Springs.

No human injuries were reported in the fire, which broke out on Saturday. It’s not clear whether any people were in the house at the time.

The Gazette of Colorado Springs reports both dogs were pit bulls.

Fire Lt. Carl Miller says the fire was started by wood stove ashes that were stored in a cardboard box.

Miller estimates the damage at $80,000 or more.
