Don’t be surprised when jealous friends try to buy the Westcomb Kokanee Hoodie (MSRP: $350) off your back. This attractive, well-constructed down jacket is the Vancouver-based company’s introduction to the down category and, while a little harder to find, it looks to be a keeper.
A soft-texture, ultralight Pertex shell helps keep wind and water at bay, while the 850-fill Hutterite down from northern Canada lives up to its billing for exceptional warmth and loft in a featherweight package. A pair of fleece-lined, hand-warmer pockets seal with water-resistant zippers, and a helmet- compatible fixed hood has fleece lining around the collar.
Cuffs and hem are trimmed with soft elastic that provides a clean, comfortable seal without bulk. A zippered mesh pocket inside is large enough to stash a hat or light pair of gloves.
