BEAVER CREEK, Colo.—Didier Cuche of Switzerland has turned in the fastest time in a World Cup downhill training session on the demanding Birds of Prey course.

Cuche finished Tuesday’s run in 1 minute, 47.80 seconds, more than a half-second quicker than Adrien Theaux of France. The challenging Beaver Creek course seems to suit Cuche’s aggressive style as he’s finished on the podium five times, including a win during a super-G race in 2002.

U.S. skier Bode Miller had the eighth-fastest time, 1.11 seconds back.

Switzerland’s Carlo Janka trailed his teammate by 2.08 seconds in the training session. Janka won all three events at Beaver Creek last year.
