WOODLAND PARK — Officials said Wednesday night that they had identified a woman whose body was found Wednesday morning as Mindy Lee, a mother of two who had been missing since Friday evening.

Police said the body was discovered at 8:13 a.m. near a shed at the south end of the football field behind Woodland Park High School. The clothing matched what Lee reportedly was wearing the night she disappeared.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the Teller County coroner are assisting Woodland Park police in the investigation. An autopsy by the El Paso County coroner confirmed Lee’s identity, but no cause of death had been determined.

Deputy Police Chief John Gomes said the body was found by an officer who was searching the area for Lee and spotted red clothing. When he looked closer, he saw what appeared to be a body covered in snow. Matt Steiner, The Gazette
