Holding company Ascent Media said Monday that the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice have granted early termination of the waiting period for a potential deal involving security company Monitronics International Inc.
Monitronics makes home-security alarms.
Ascent confirmed it is in talks with private-equity firm Abry Partners, Monitronics’ controlling shareholder, about a “transaction” but gave no further details. It said completion of the transaction was subject to further negotiations and that there was no assurance any deal would be consummated.
